The History of the District Court Dehiattakandiya

Historical Roots: The establishment and evolution of the Dehiaththakandiya District and Magistrates Court are deeply rooted in the history of Mahaweli System C and the socio-economic transformation of the region.

Following the implementation of the accelerated Mahaweli Development programme in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Dehiaththakandiya transformed into a bustling agricultural hub as thousands of farming families migrated to the area, creating an urgent need for local Law and Order.
